Heart Shaped Shells

On the 3rd of August we moved back to their house in Glücksburg. It is so beautiful!! They have a great view of the fjord and the house is like an art museum. I will be staying in the basement. There, I have my own room and bathroom. They must be psychic or something because the color theme is red. My favorite color!! The room is cozy and I feel very safe. We went to visit Lorenz's parents today too. They were really nice and offered us tea and cookies. They also have a wonderful home.

FACT: The North Sea is home to many many many jellyfish. Most of them are harmless and you can pick them up from the bottom. There are, however, red jellyfish and they are poisonous. If they sting you it can be extremely dangerous. While swimming with Greta, I accidentally swam into a few of the harmless ones. We did cartwheels off the floating island and did handstands in shallow water. I also came across a heart shaped shell.

Every summer in Door County, WI, my family would search for heart shaped rocks on the beach while waiting for a table at the Mexican Restaurant. Naturally I wanted to keep the shell and add it to our rock collection, but the shell still held a living creature so I threw it back.

Both Greta and Yoreme had school on Saturday so Antje gave me a mini tour of Flensburg. She showed me the bus stops and explained the bus system. We visited my school, Goethe Schule, and it looks enormous compared to NHS. There are multiple stories and the buildings wrap around a large courtyard. I am excited to start school on Tuesday. Only the exchange students start on Tuesday. The rest of the students begin on Monday. We have a special "orientation" of sorts. I will only attend school for the first week and then I'm off to my language course. The course will last for four weeks and will go from 8:15 to 12:15. Hopefully this course and my determination will greatly improve my german. Although watching German TV has been helping too. Last night I watched a Barbie Mermaid movie with Greta. It was in German so I didn't understand exactly what was going on. I'm still trying to decide if that's a bad thing...  It was good to watch, however, because it made me listen to german.

We went to Ikea to get some things for Yoreme's room. The drive was long and the traffic was bad. We spent a long time in the store as well. I picked up the catalog because I love looking at all of the room set-ups. We ended up having dinner there and I had a Caesar Salad. Whoever said salads were scarce in Germany? They're everywhere! When I walk, I often look at the ground to prevent tripping. Looking down does nothing for poles and low signs. A huge downside to walking with my head down was that I ran into one of the parking signs. It hurt and I felt extremely stupid.
